Day 1Shimla - Sangla valley
- Drive through the lush apple growing belt of Himachal Pradesh.
- Drive along the spectacular Satluj river along roads carved out of rock and into the fabled Sangla Valley
Day 2Sangla Valley - Chitkul - Kalpa
- Today we will explore the Sangla Valley
- Visit the beautiful Chitkul village, the last village in the valley close to the Tibet border.
- Head to the quaint village of Kalpa with magnificent views of the Kinner Kailash Range.
Day 3Kalpa - Nako - Giu - Tabo
- Todays drive takes you along what is commonly known as one of the World’s Most Dangerous Roads
- Experience the beautiful transition from lush greens to stark cold desert landscapes
- Stop at Khab – the spectacular confluence of the Sutluj and Spiti rivers
- Visit the pristine Nako Lake
- Continue to Giu and witness the mystical remains of a self-mummified monk
Day 4Tabo - Dhankhar - Pin Valley
- Visit the Tabo Monastery – The Ajanta of the Himalayas, which is over a 1000 years old
- Explore Dhankar, the erstwhile capital of Spiti
- Travel back in time at the ancient Dhankhar Monastery & Fort
- Drive along the spectacular Pin Valley till the last village – Mudh
- Discover a hidden village of meditating monks and nuns on the edge of Pin Valley National Park!
- With no network, no tourists – experience pure peace where silence, the Milky Way, and shooting stars are your only companions.
- Spend the evening with your hosts, gaining a glimpse into everyday life in Spiti as you learn the art of making delicious momos and cook just like a local.
Day 5Pin Valley - Demul - Komic - Hikkim - Langza - Kaza
- Today is an early start and a day of many highs as we travel into the highlands of Spiti.
- Experience the essence of Spiti in the beautiful village of Demul — a hidden gem that offers a glimpse into the real Spiti, known for its exceptional local Arak, vibrant cultural performances, and deeply rooted sustainable way of life.
- Enjoy a scenic lunch and savour some of Spiti’s famous Arak.
- Travel onward to Komic — the world’s highest village — along rolling meadows and highland roads far from the usual tourist trail.
- Stop at Hikkim, the World’s Highest Post Office and send postcards to your loved ones back home.
- Visit picture perfect Langza Village – famous for its towering Buddha Statute and mud craft
- End the day at Kaza today and enjoy the vibrant markets and cafes.
To Balangri – a spectacular vantage spot at 5000 mt. for incredible views of over 18 villages
Day 6Kaza - Key - Kibber - Chicham - Chandratal
- Visit the iconic Key Monastery today.
- Drive to Kibber and onwards over the Chicham Bridge – highest bridge in Asia.
- Cross the spectacular Kunzum Pass (4551mt/14931ft) and visit the Buddhist shrine
- Head to the picturesque Chandratal – Lake of the Moon Goddess
- Tonight camp under a zillion stars.
Day 7Chandratal - Manali
- Drive along the beautiful Chandra River Valley to Manali.
- Cross the famous Atal tunnel – the world’s longest tunnel – that divides Kullu from the Lahaul Valley and experience the contrast from desert landscapes to the lush green of the Himalayas.
- End the journey with memories for a lifetime!

This was the most rewarding experience of my life. . Spiti Ecosphere gave me an amazing volunteering opportunity that allowed me to help build a greenhouse in a small village in Spiti Valley, a mountain desert where nothing grows. I signed up for Ecosphere’s 2-week voluntourism program that combines volunteer work with the opportunity to explore the beauty of the valley without the negative side effects of commercial tourism. . What Ishita and Ecosphere are doing in Spiti is remarkable. Ecosphere is helping local communities create sustainable means of living through its many projects, volunteerism being just one of them.
