Day 1Dimapur - Khonoma
- Your journey begins as you arrive in Dimapur, the gateway to Nagaland.
- From here, drive through scenic countryside and gradually ascend into the hills, leaving behind the bustle of the plains.
- Arrive in Khonoma, famously known as Asia’s first green village.
- Settle into your cozy homestay where you will experience the warmth of Angami hospitality and get your first taste of Naga village life.
- The evening is free to explore the village lanes, soak in the views of terraced fields, and interact with the locals who take pride in their conservation initiatives.
Day 2Khonoma - Dzuleke - Jhakama
- Set out on a short but scenic drive to Dzuleke, a serene village nestled amidst thick forests, terraced fields, and gurgling streams. The name Dzuleke comes from the stream that disappears underground, adding a touch of mystery to its charm. The village is completely free of hunting and fishing, making it a haven for wildlife and rare bird species.
- Spend the afternoon soaking in the tranquil beauty, interacting with locals, or simply enjoying the stillness of nature. Take a leisurely walk around Dzuleke village before heading to Jhakama, where you’ll stay overnight at a cozy homestay.
Day 3Jakhama - Dzukou Valley Trek
- Today marks the highlight of the journey as you set out on the legendary Dzukou Valley Trek, one of Nagaland’s most scenic adventures.
- The trek roughly covers 17 km (4-5 hrs) into the breathtaking Dzukou Valley, often called the “Valley of Flowers of the Northeast.” Stretching out like a vast carpet of rolling meadows, the valley is dotted with seasonal flowers, crystal-clear streams, and caves, making it a true natural wonder.
- Spend the afternoon exploring the valley’s enchanting landscapes—wandering across its green meadows, resting by the cold streams, or simply soaking in the serene silence. The shifting light of sunset paints the valley in surreal hues, creating an unforgettable sight.
- At night, settle into your dormitory accommodation or camping tents, surrounded by the peace and wilderness of Dzukou Valley.
Day 4Dzukou Valley - Kohima
- Today, you begin your descent from the pristine Dzukou Valley. After an early breakfast, trek back to Jakhama.
- Once back at Jakhama, embark on a short 1-hour drive to Kohima, the vibrant capital of Nagaland. The journey descends through rolling hills, giving you glimpses of terraced farms, traditional Naga villages, and lush green landscapes.
- On arrival in Kohima, check into your hotel and unwind after the day’s adventure.
- In the evening, you may choose to stroll through the town, exploring local markets or enjoying the sunset over the surrounding hills.
Day 5Explore Kohima
- Today is dedicated to exploring the historic and cultural highlights of Kohima.
- Begin with a visit to the Kohima War Cemetery, a serene and solemn site that pays tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives during World War II.
- Afterwards, take a leisurely drive through the town to explore local markets, where you can discover traditional Naga handicrafts, textiles, and unique souvenirs. Immerse yourself in the bustling street life and vibrant culture, observing the daily rhythm of the locals.
- Next, visit Kohima’s heritage spots, including viewpoints overlooking the rolling hills, historic churches, and cultural centers that showcase the traditions and lifestyle of the Angami Naga community.
- In the evening, return to your hotel to relax and enjoy the tranquility of Kohima’s hilltop ambiance.
Day 6Kohima - Wokha - Mokokchung
- Today we drive from Kohima towards Mokokchung, passing through the picturesque town of Wokha — home to the Lotha Naga tribe.
- The route offers scenic views of the rolling hills, terraced fields, and quaint villages that beautifully capture the essence of rural Nagaland.
- Stop along the way to interact with locals or take short breaks to admire the vistas, especially around Wokha where the Doyang River and valleys make for a peaceful pause.
- By afternoon, arrive in Mokokchung — the cultural heartland of the Ao Nagas. Spend the evening exploring its lively local markets or simply unwind at your stay, soaking in the calm atmosphere of this charming hill town.
Day 7Mokokchung - Mon
- Today, set out on a scenic drive from Mokokchung to Mon — the land of the Konyak Nagas – the last generation of the famous headhunters of Nagaland! The Konyak Nagas are also known for their distinct traditions, tattooed elders, and intricate woodcraft.
- The route winds through lush green hills, remote villages, and stretches of forest, offering a raw and beautiful glimpse of Nagaland’s changing landscapes.
- Arrive in Mon by afternoon, settle into your stay, and spend the evening exploring the village and connecting with the locals — a quiet introduction to the fascinating Konyak culture.
Day 8Explore Mon – Longwa, Shangnyu & Chalsoise Villages
- Today we will explore the Konyak heartland, home to the last generation of headhunters.
- After breakfast, drive to Longwa, one of Nagaland’s most intriguing villages, where the Indo–Myanmar border runs right through the Angh (village chief)’s house — one half in India and the other in Myanmar!
- Continue your exploration with visits to Shangnyu, known for its massive wooden memorials and intricate carvings, and Chalsoise, a lesser-known village offering a deeper look into local craftsmanship and rural life.
- Return by evening and unwind at your stay, reflecting on a day steeped in culture, stories, and history.
Day 9Mon - Dibrugarh
- Today we bid farewell to Mon and begin your drive towards Dibrugarh, crossing into Assam’s lush tea country.
- The journey winds through scenic hills and verdant landscapes before opening up into the rolling tea estates that the region is famous for.
- Upon arrival in Dibrugarh, you’ll be dropped off at the airport or a common location.

This was the most rewarding experience of my life. . Spiti Ecosphere gave me an amazing volunteering opportunity that allowed me to help build a greenhouse in a small village in Spiti Valley, a mountain desert where nothing grows. I signed up for Ecosphere’s 2-week voluntourism program that combines volunteer work with the opportunity to explore the beauty of the valley without the negative side effects of commercial tourism. . What Ishita and Ecosphere are doing in Spiti is remarkable. Ecosphere is helping local communities create sustainable means of living through its many projects, volunteerism being just one of them.
