Day 1Manali to Kaza
- Drive through the famous Atal tunnel that divides Kullu from the Lahaul Valley.
- Traverse through the beautiful Chandra River Valley.
- Cross the magical Kunzum Pass (4551mt/14931ft) and visit the Buddhist shrine.
- Stunning views of the Chandrabagha Mountain Ranges.
Day 2 to 4 Kaza to Kawang to Kaza
- Sessions with teachers on Buddhist concepts and practices
- Opportunities to understand Buddhist philosophy and meditation techniques
- An inner immersion while we experience life at the nunnery.
- A short silent retreat on the last day to take us deeper within and to experience how it feels to silence our body and mind for a day.
- It is common practice for monks and nuns to undertake serious retreats extending over 3 years!
Day 5Kaza to Dhankhar to Tabo to Kaza
- Dhankhar – the erstwhile capital of Spiti
- Travel back in time at the ancient Dhankar Monastery & Fort
- Tabo and its over 1000-year-old monastery – popularly referred to as the Ajanta of the Himalayas.
- Visit to the mystical meditation caves
Day 6Kaza to Langza to Hikkim to Komic to Kaza
- Picture perfect Langza Village – famous for its Buddha Statue and mud craft.
- Hikkim – the World’s Highest Post Office – send postcards to your loved ones back home.
- Komic – the World’s Highest Village and the ancient Komic Monastery.
- Closing session with our teacher- an opportunity for questions, clarifications and discussions.
Day 7Kaza to Kee to Kibber to Chicham to Chandratal
- The iconic Kee Monastery which belongs to the Gelukpa sect of Tibetan Budhhism.
- Drive over the Chicham Bridge – highest bridge in Asia.
- The picturesque Chandratal – Lake of the Moon Goddess
Day 8Chandratal to Manali
- Drive along the beautiful Chandra River Valley
- Drive through the famous Atal tunnel that divides Kullu from the Lahaul Valley and experience the contrast from desert landscapes to the lush green of the Himalayas
- All accommodation Day 1 to Day 7 on a sharing basis

This was the most rewarding experience of my life. . Spiti Ecosphere gave me an amazing volunteering opportunity that allowed me to help build a greenhouse in a small village in Spiti Valley, a mountain desert where nothing grows. I signed up for Ecosphere’s 2-week voluntourism program that combines volunteer work with the opportunity to explore the beauty of the valley without the negative side effects of commercial tourism. . What Ishita and Ecosphere are doing in Spiti is remarkable. Ecosphere is helping local communities create sustainable means of living through its many projects, volunteerism being just one of them.
