Day 1Srinagar - Kargil
- Travel through the lush meadows of Sonmarg, the “Meadow of Gold.”
- Cross the Zoji La Pass (3,528 m / 11,575 ft), the gateway to Ladakh.
- Stop at the Kargil War Memorial, a tribute to India’s brave soldiers.
- Reach Kargil, a historic town nestled along the Suru River.
Day 2Kargil - Mulbekh - Lamayuru - Leh
- Stop at Mulbekh Monastery, home to a giant rock-carved Buddha statue.
- Explore Lamayuru Monastery, one of Ladakh’s oldest, surrounded by the surreal “Moonland” landscape.
- Witness the spectacular Indus-Zanskar Confluence, where two mighty rivers meet.
- Experience the mysterious Magnetic Hill, where vehicles seem to defy gravity.
- Arrive in Leh and relax after an adventurous day.
Day 3Explore Leh
- Visit the Shey Palace, once the royal residence of Ladakh’s kings.

Day 4Leh - Khardung La - Turtuk
- Cross Khardung La (5,359 m / 17,582 ft), one of the world’s highest motorable passes.
- Travel through the stunning Nubra Valley, known for its dramatic landscapes.
- Arrive in Turtuk, a culturally rich Balti village near the Pakistan border.
- Explore the apricot orchards, stone houses, and breathtaking views of this remote village.
Day 5Turtuk - Hunder
- Spend the morning exploring Turtuk, its unique Balti heritage, and warm hospitality.
- Travel to Hunder, where the stark desert meets snow-capped mountains.
- Experience the famous sand dunes of Nubra Valley and ride the double-humped Bactrian camels.
- Overnight stay in Hunder, surrounded by Ladakh’s surreal landscapes.
Day 6Hunder - Diskit - Skyok Valley - Pangong Tso
- Visit Diskit Monastery, home to a giant 106-ft Maitreya Buddha statue.
- Travel through the remote and scenic Shyok Valley, an offbeat route connecting Nubra to Pangong.
- Reach the mesmerizing Pangong Lake (4,350 m / 14,270 ft), famous for its ever-changing colors.Stay overnight by the pristine blue waters, under a breathtaking starlit sky.
Day 7Pangong Tso - Chang La - Leh
- Drive over the Chang La Pass (5,360 m / 17,586 ft), one of the highest motorable roads in the world.
- Travel past Tangtse Village and the lush green pastures of Sakti.

This was the most rewarding experience of my life. . Spiti Ecosphere gave me an amazing volunteering opportunity that allowed me to help build a greenhouse in a small village in Spiti Valley, a mountain desert where nothing grows. I signed up for Ecosphere’s 2-week voluntourism program that combines volunteer work with the opportunity to explore the beauty of the valley without the negative side effects of commercial tourism. . What Ishita and Ecosphere are doing in Spiti is remarkable. Ecosphere is helping local communities create sustainable means of living through its many projects, volunteerism being just one of them.
