Program
Day 1Chandigarh - Narkanda
- Drive through the lush apple growing belt of Himachal Pradesh and end the day with an overnight stay in Narkanda.
Day 2Narkanda - Kalpa
- Depart from Narkanda and drive through the scenic Kinnaur Valley towards Kalpa.
- End the day with the magnificent views of the Kinner Kailash range.
Day 3Kalpa - Nako - Tabo - Kaza
- The journey today takes us from the lush Satluj Valley into the stark desert landscape of the Spiti valley.
- Khab – the spectacular confluence of the Sutluj and Spiti rivers
- The pristine Nako Lake
- Thrilling drives along roads carved out of rocks
- Tabo Monastery – the Ajanta of the Himalayas – standing for over a millennium.
Day 4Kaza – Langza – Hikkim – Komic – Chicham
- Komic – the World’s Highest Village and the ancient Komic Monastery
- Hikkim, the World’s Highest Post Office – send postcards to your loved ones back home
- Picture perfect Langza Village – famous for its Buddha Statute and fossils
- Head to Chicham later today, a scenic village famous for Snow Leopard sightings where we will be spending the next few days.
Day 5 to 7Chicham
- For the next 3 days, we will head to various spots around the village frequented by the Snow Leopards and other wildlife in the winters.
- Tracking wildlife is all about patience and being as quiet as possible and of course, luck! Most of the next few days will be spent frequenting the various spots and waiting.
Day 8 Chicham - Key - Rampur
- Today we start early and visit the iconic Key Monastery
- Drive along the scenic Spiti and Satluj Rivers, making our way back to the town of Rampur.

This was the most rewarding experience of my life. . Spiti Ecosphere gave me an amazing volunteering opportunity that allowed me to help build a greenhouse in a small village in Spiti Valley, a mountain desert where nothing grows. I signed up for Ecosphere’s 2-week voluntourism program that combines volunteer work with the opportunity to explore the beauty of the valley without the negative side effects of commercial tourism. . What Ishita and Ecosphere are doing in Spiti is remarkable. Ecosphere is helping local communities create sustainable means of living through its many projects, volunteerism being just one of them.
