Program
Day 1Arrive Leh
- Your journey beings as you arrive in Leh.
- Rest and acclimatize today to the high altitude of Leh at 3,500 m / 11,500 ft.
- Take it easy to avoid altitude sickness.
Day 2Explore Leh
- Today we will spend the day acclimatising to the altitude and explore Leh & its surroundings
- Hall of Fame: Pay your respects at the war memorial dedicated to the heroes of the Himalayan borders.
- Magnetic Hill: Experience the gravity-defying phenomenon where your bike appears to roll uphill!
- Sangam: Witness the spectacular confluence of the emerald Indus and the muddy Zanskar rivers.
- Gurudwara Pathar Sahib: Visit this historic 16th-century site maintained by the Indian Army.
- Stroll through Leh’s Main Bazaar, filled with local crafts and Tibetan artifacts.
- End the day at Shanti Stupa, offering panoramic views of Leh.
Day 3Leh - Khardung La - Nubra Valley
- Cross Khardung La (5,359 m / 17,982 ft) today, one of the highest motorable roads in the world.
- Visit Diskit Monastery, perched dramatically above the Nubra Valley, home to its iconic Maitreya Buddha statue.
- Explore the unique sand dunes of Hunder, surrounded by snow-covered mountains.
Day 4Nubra Valley - Pangong Tso
- Leave Nubra Valley and begin the journey towards Pangong Tso.
- Travel through the remote Shyok Valley, and arrive at Pangong Tso, one of Ladakh’s most iconic lakes, stretching across the India–China border.
- Experience the lake in its winter avatar, when it can partially or completely freeze.
Day 5Pangong Tso - Rezang La - Hanle
- Pay tribute at the Rezang La War Memorial, dedicated to Indian soldiers who fought in 1962.
- Reach Hanle (4,500 m / 14,764 ft), Hanle, a serene village in the Changthang region of Ladakh, India, is home to the country’s first Dark Sky Reserve and has India’s highest astronomical observatory
- Witness one of the clearest night skies on Earth, perfect for stargazing.
Day 6Hanle - Ya Ya Tso - Chumathang
- Leave Hanle behind and journey deeper into the remote landscapes of the Changthang plateau.
- Stop at Ya Ya Tso, a beautiful high-altitude lake and experience it in its winter form
- Travel through Changthang, with chances to spot Kiang (wild ass) and other high-altitude wildlife.
- Continue towards Chumathang, known for its natural hot springs.
Day 7Chumathang - Hemis - Leh
- After breakfast, drive towards Leh with a stop at Hemis Monastery, one of Ladakh’ s most renowned Buddhist monasteries.
- Return to Leh: Reach Leh by evening to enjoy a celebratory farewell dinner and reflect on the incredible 19,000 ft journey through the frontier.
Day 8Fly out of Leh
- Board your flight with unforgettable memories of Ladakh’s breathtaking landscapes and thrilling adventures.

This was the most rewarding experience of my life. . Spiti Ecosphere gave me an amazing volunteering opportunity that allowed me to help build a greenhouse in a small village in Spiti Valley, a mountain desert where nothing grows. I signed up for Ecosphere’s 2-week voluntourism program that combines volunteer work with the opportunity to explore the beauty of the valley without the negative side effects of commercial tourism. . What Ishita and Ecosphere are doing in Spiti is remarkable. Ecosphere is helping local communities create sustainable means of living through its many projects, volunteerism being just one of them.
