Highlights

Khanamo is a relatively easy peak to scale and at a height of almost 6000m it is also one of the most rewarding as well! Khanamo in Spitian language literally translates into, “The Black Mountain”. Since the villages from where the peak is visible are located on the south side of this peak, the people get a view of a black coloured mountain, and hence its name!

However, the name doesn’t do entire justice to this friendly and beautiful peak, as it is black only in colour and not in spirit.

  • A non-technical peak in terms of scaling, it requires nothing more than a good pair of hiking shoes and a walking stick. However, a good level of fitness is a must
  • Khanamo also translates into a mountain that has a lot of snow. If one were to reach the top and its beautiful view of the glacier on the north face, it’s clear why!

The Khanamo ascent is a great adrenalin rush of getting atop almost 6000mts to be surrounded by a vastness of snow-capped peaks
